WQXR is New York City’s only classical music radio station. We’re one of the longest-running stations in the country and have been sharing the joy of classical music with New Yorkers since 1939.
We ignite our audience’s passion for music by playing outstanding pieces on air, online and through our app. We carefully curate our programming to include the most-loved works alongside music we believe deserves to be heard more often. We also offer Operavore, a dedicated opera stream and Q2 Music, which highlights the work of contemporary artists.
As part of our mission to help make a life with classical music accessible, relevant and inspiring for all New Yorkers, we broadcast live events from The Metropolitan Opera, The New York Philharmonic and Carnegie Hall. Our city-wide Instrument Drive helps support the future of music in New York City by providing musical instruments for children.
